Personal Notes:
1901 was a momentous year - Queen Victoria died and was succeeded by her son Edward VII, the Boxer rebellion in China ended - and the Commonwealth of Australia came into being! When a new baby arrived for Peter and Florence Johnson on 02 Dec of that year, it seemed only right and proper to name him Edmund Barton in honour of Australia's first Prime Minister. Sadly the poor little chap had a very brief life, dying of typhoid fever at Cloncurry on 10 July 1910.
