Birth Certificate witnesses by John Craigen and George Diack.
Census 1861 has John working as a servant aged 11 in the house of George Henderson (33) and his two unmarried sisters (24 & 22) - in Tyrie. Marriage certificate shows usual address as 31 George St, Aberdeen. Qld death index has father John Diack and mother Margaret Mutch. ************ Note this discrepancy. **************** Helen's birth certificate shows occupation as Candlemaker. A bad asthmatic. Lived with George and Ada in Townsville. Came to Australia in 15/6/1881 on ship Scottish Knight. Scottish Knight built 1876 barque, Feb.1896 sank in tow after collision with Longships in fog off Cornwall on voyage Tocopilla to Leith with nitrate. 916 tons SCOTTISH KNIGHT arrived 15 06 1881 Townsville - departed Plymouth 03 03 1881 source passender list PL M1698 |
