Horsham Times 6 May 1898
DISTRICT NEWS _ HOPETOUN
Albino Bill, a young man, a farmer, residing in East Goyura, and a partner named Taylor, were driving to church at Hopetoun on Sunday, and when within a quarter of a mile from the town one of the horses plunged and broke a rein. The pair then bolted. Bill jumped out and broke both bones in one leg. Taylor managed to bring the runaways to a standstill, after some damage had been done to the vehicle, and he conveyed Bill to Hopetoun, where Dr. Weld set the limb.

The West Australian (Perth) 23 Dec 1924
FIRES IN NORTHAM DISTRICT.
Serious Crop Losses. Northam. Dec. 22.
Two big fires broke out here, one to day and another on Saturday. At about 2 o'clock to-day a conflagration started westward of the town at Burlong Pool
and burnt through the properties of Messrs. Leemin; and Snook, J. H. Con nell and H. W. Hancock, consuming a considerable acreage of standing crops, bags of wheat and stooks. These owners were heavy sufferers, but the total damage is not obtainable at present. The orchard and dairy of P. Tunzi was threatened on two sides, but the fire burnt itself out here after scorching a few barren fig trees. The fire is still, burning in the hills. On Saturday Mr. Con. Moore, of Meenara who had a show crop of exceptionally good Nabawa wheat on light land lost 161 acres of growing crop, which was stripping eight bags to the acre. 40 tons of hay. about 12 acres of standing oats and rape. 100 acres of grass and a mile of fencing. Mrs. Moore and her son saved 77 pigs which were overcome by the heat and had to be revived by being sprayed with water. Albino Bill, whose property is adjoining, lost about 200 acres of standing wheat and some hay stooks.
