MR. A, W. SNEDDON.

Mr. Andrew William Sneddon has been appointed general manager of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, in succession to Mr. A. C. Holllngworth, who has retired.

Mr Sneddon was born at Wallsend, and entered the society's service as a Junior clerk at head office on January 4, 1897. He was transferred to the London branch in October, 1908, and during his service was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries He returned to Sydney in 1913 and filled an important actuarial position In 1926 he was appointed manager of the industrial department, and in 1930 was made secretary of the society In 1931 he was appointed manager of the New South Wales branch, and in October, 1933 was promoted to the dual position of chief inspector and secretary

Mr Sneddon is well known in sporting circles and in his younger days was a prominent member of the Sydney Rowing Club and the AMP Rifle Club He is an active member of the Long Reef Golf Club Mr Sneddon is also a member of the Australian Club

On his arrival at the society s head office yesterday morning, Mr Sneddon was greeted by the assembled staff on the ground floor and heartily cheered by his colleagues
