Dear Selina Frank & All

Recd. your last letter and was glad to hear you are alright.
I don’t know how I am to or can tell you that our Poor Frank is no more in this world but gone to The God who gave him. I told you in the last he was so very sick and in a few ours gone, he was unconscious all the time.
The Captn. of the ship was talking to him for some minutes on Sunday morn. 7th Sept. and after a short time his temperature rose alarmingly high and the Doctors said he had Enteric Fever, and they put ice packs on his head and did everything for him they could think of but of no use as they sent for the Chaplin at 3am Monday morn. and he was dead at 11am Monday morn. He burst a small artery on the brain and he got unconscious and remained so till the end. He was Buried at Sea at 7pm on the same evening.
All the fleet of 14 Battleships and 12 Cruisers stopped while the Chaplin of the ship lead the burial service, about 14000 men in the same, it must have been a most solemn and awful sight, He my Poor-Boy his body going to the great deep and his spirit going up up above the stars of the great unknown Heaven But to meet the Redeemer and his Saviour. I can't write anymore at present But keep up a good heart, as those things are sent us as Examples and make us look round and ask ourselves "how do we stand with God"
Best Love God Bless You All,
Your affectionate
Father

There was not a dry Eye in church Sunday for our Poor-Boy even strangers wept, The service was most solemn.

My darling sister Selina, Frank & all.

By this you know our darling has left us, you can't imagine how we feel, I suppose you are distracted.
Isn't it awful to think that we will never see him on earth, but it is lovely to say "There's another gem in the Saviour Crown another Soul in Heaven..
We are getting letters every day from the Admiralty & others and it makes it worse for us, it is the whole thing over again.
Father looks wretched, such a change in anyone was never seen. Mother seems foolish & Edie and I don't know what to do. Poor George is very good, he is broken hearted. I can't write. Love to all the family & may God comfort us all & help us to bear our loss.
Your loving sister,
Laura
