The Tumut and Adelong Times 8 Jan 1929
ADELONG SPLASHES DEATH OF MR. MAURICE WALLACE On the last day of the year Mr. Wallace sr., of Adelong, passed away after being very ill for about three weeks. The late Mr. Wallace was an Australian native and was born at Queanbeyan, where he resided for many years . Here he met and married his good wife who survives him, and together they reared a large family to the estate of man hood and womanhood. Fourteen boys and girls were born to the couple, and twelve of them are still alive, as well as his widow who tenderly nursed him through his last illness. Mr. Wallace had reached the great age of 79 years and 8 months. He was a man who commanded the respect and esteem of all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was a fine example of a good husband and father, as well as a kind neighbor and friend. His remains were laid in their last resting place in the Adelong Cemetery on New Year's Day, Rev. Fr. II. J. De vine : conducting tlie last sad rites.
