The Tumut and Adelong Times 23 Nov 1926
Obituary MR. MICHAEL O'MARA At the Gundagai District Hospital, at 7 a.m. last Wednesday morning, death claimed a genial and widely known Jugiong personality in Mr. Michael O'Mara, aged 74 years. Of robust constitution, the late Mr. O'Mara was stricken down with a severe heart attack about three months ago, and for the major portion of that period he was confined and found relief in the Gundagai Hospital, being discharged about a fortnight ago. On Friday week last he was readmitted 'in a rather serious condition and his medical adviser held out little hope for his recovery : complications set in and the sufferer grew daily worse, but conscious right up till the last he passed away peacefully at the hour stated. Possessed of the jovial nature characteristic of the O'Mara family, deceased was universally popular with all who knew him, and his home at Berremangra was among the most hospitable in the district. Since boyhood he had resided in and around Jugiong, where through thrift and industry he acquired a nice grazing property. About 40 years ago he married Miss Ellen Cooney who survives him, as well as a family of five sons, namely, William, Michael, Cullen, James and Phillip. Mrs. William Sheehan (Gundagai) is a sister of deceased, and one brother (Mr. Thomas O'Mara, Merrylands) also survive him. |
