Personal Notes:
The Tumut and Adelong Times 26 Feb 1929
DEATH OF MRS. SARAH DICKSON Passed away on Sunday last, Mrs. Sarah Dickson, of Adelong. For the past 50 years Mrs. Dickson had been a resident of this district, the greater portion of the time living near Batlow. 'Twas there that her children were reared till they reached the age that they could shift ; for themselves. Born in Greenock, Scotland, nearly 78 years ago, Mrs. Dickson left her native country for Australia whilst still in her teens, and, after spending some time in Tasmania, came to New South Wa les where she met and married her late husband, Mr. Walter Dickson. In her younger days, the late Mrs. Dickson was a very healthy woman, and, living far from doctors, was considered somewhat skilful as a nurse, and many the suffering person in the bush had reason to be thankful to her for her great kindnesses. Some five or six years ago. she had a stroke, and has been ailing ever since; and, in order to be close to the doctor, she has been living in Adelong for the past several years, having been well nursed and looked after by Mrs. Wicht. About twelve months ago her husband (the late Mr. Walter Dickson) passed away. The family left behind are Mrs. W. J. Pearce (Billapalap), Walter (Kunama), D'Arcy (Patterson) and Daniel (Melbourne). The remains were laid in their last resting place on Monday last.
