| Owen Cooney was born in Edinburgh Scotland, and came to Ausralia when he was about 21 years old. He met and married an Australian born girl, and they had six children, but it seems Mary Ann nee Dacey may have died in childbirth. Owen was manager of his mother-in-law's inn at Dinga Dinga. After his wife's death, he married again and he and his second wife, Mary Ann Millane had another six children. During the second marriage, Owen owned the Cobb & Co Coach Inn at Old Junee ( still standing). Mary Ann Millane at 16 years, and her sister at 14 years travelled alone from Ireland to Australia. It was believed they were too frail to survive in Ireland. Mary Ann lived until she was 93 years! |
