Personal Notes:
The 1836 Tithe Maps give that Thomas Barber was farming tennanted land (11 fields totalling around 17 acres) in conjunction with Joseph Nickson but lived in a rented cottage (plot 359) in Gt. Budworth village a few doors down from St. Mary and All Saints Church. These fields and acreages are not one parcel of land, as say a ranch in Australia or America, but are dotted about 'an acre here, a few acres there' at several locations - some are separated by lots of other fields but prominent locations on modern day maps include the current site of New Westage Farm buildings which occupy the field known as Cookes Land. Most of the land was owned by Rowland Eyles Egerton Warburton of Arley Hall, the principle landowner in the area.
