Donald McGillivary then followed the goldmining at Adelong and Kiandra. Settling on the Gilmore Creek in 1861 he conducted the flourrnill which was driven by a waterpower wheel. In 1867 he leased the mill to James Simmers, a flour miller. He then tried his hand at Stock dealing and grazing pursuits but being unsuccessful he returned to flour milling.

Their son, Archibald McGillivary, later trained horses for Dr. Mason and then became a successful dairyrnan and milk vendor. He had considerable Veterlnary skill and his services were keenly sought.
