OBITUARY. MR. ARCHIBALD CLEE. A couple of issues back we made brief mention of the death of Mr. Archibald Clee, of Blowering Road, which took place at his residence on August 7. Deceased was born at Gocup in 1852, his father being in the employ of the late Mr. Archer Broughton sr, who then owned Gocup Station, and when deceased was a child he foster-fathered him and educated him. When his school days ended the late Mr. Clee filled the post of boundary-rider on Gocup Station, and upon the death of Mr. Archer Broughton his services were transferred to the late Mr. R. Broughton, Gilmore. Whilst in the latter's employ he married Miss Ellen Boyde, second daughter of the late Thomas Boyde, the first white man to cross the Murray River. They made their home in the Gilmore Valley, where nine children were born, one, Maggie, predeceasing him when a child. The surviving family are Mrs. Jno. Fields (Gundagai), Mrs. W. Glen (Argalong), Mrs. Dye (Junee), Thomas, John and George (Tumut), Mrs. T. R. Fields (Gundagai) and Miss Jessie (Tumut), besides a sorrowing widow. Deceased was a fond husband and father, whose life was wrapped up in the welfare of his family, who gave him their constant care in his declining years. His end was calm and peaceful. The funeral took place on August 8, the remains being interred in the Church of England portion of the new cemetery. Rev. C. Debehham performing the last sad rites at the graveside and Mr. H. W. Baker capably conducted the burial arrangements. Floral tributes were received from quite a number of old friends. The pall-bearers were Messrs O. Dowling, R. Clee, C. Kershaw, N. Morris and R. Dean.
