Death of an Old Manaro Resident. There passed away in Cooma, on 18th. June, Robert Stewart aged 84, an old pioneer of Manaro. He was born at Wollongong and spent the early part of his life in the Riverina district. He crossed he Bendigo digings at the time the first shaft was being' sunk there. For a time he followed the lure of the goldfields, traveling over the greater part of New Zealand, later returning to and settling in the Manaro district where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a great athlete and a long distance swimmer. He was a clever composer, many of his songs appearing in the Cooma papers about fifty years ago. He was laid to rest in Boloco cemetery beside his only son and his baby daughter. He leaves a sorrowing widow, two daughters, Mrs. W. Filtness of " Vetnor," Moonbah ; and Mrs. A. H. Ginns of Wilde's Meadow (near Moss Vale) also two grandsons to Mourn their loss.
