Death of Mrs. Pendergast. The death occurred on the 26th ult. of Mrs. Sarah Catherine Pendergast, of Mount Hunter, and late of Dalgety. Born at Nimitybelle in 1852, was married at Cobbin some 25 years later, to Mr. John Joseph Pendergast of Moonbah, seventy-nine years of her life being spent in the Monaro district. Since the death of her husband, five years ago, she has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Matthews, of Mount Hunter. The deceased lady was the youngest and only surviving daughter of the late George and Mary Collins, of Calcat. Being of a very charitable disposition, she found great pleasure in attending the sick. During her late illness she was attended by the Rev. M. O'Dea. The funeral left from Mt. Hunter, several cars following the remains to Campbelltown where it was placed on the train for burial in Mittagong R.C. Cemetery, Cooma. The Rev. Father Ryan of Cooma, officiated at the graveside, and the funeral arrangements were carried out by Mesrs. P. E. Butler & Co., Camden, in conjunction with Mr. F. J. Allen of Cooma. Deceased leaves a family of two sons and four daughters; there are nineteen grand children. The sons and daughters are Messrs. Thomas and Frederick, both of Ardlethan; Mrs. Charles Filtness, Moonbah; Mrs. Robt. Matthews, Mt. Hunter; Miss Mabel Pendergast, Mt. Hunter; and Mrs. Aiden Boylan, South Australia. Her youngest son, Joseph, predeceased his mother some sixteen years ago. Among the many expressions of love and sympathy were noticed wreaths from Mary, Charlie and family; Aunt Susan Collins and family; Mat., Mary and family; James, and Ria Thompson, Victoria; Gus, Molly and Pat Collins, Temora, Fred, Elsie and boys; Fred and Emma Wilds and family, Taree; John and Beat FitzPatrick and family, Temora; Dick, Louie and Herb, Mortlock; Maggie Collins, Sydney; Angus Reid and fam ily; Aggie, Bud and boys; Jack and Mary O'Dwyer; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Roach. |
