OBITUARY MR. ARCHIBALD McKINNON The death occurred in the Gundagai Hospital on Tuesday of last week, of a well-known Gundagai and Brungle resident, in the person of Archibald McKinnon. Deceased was 76 years of age, and was born at Brungle, where he resided until he removed to Gundagai about 20 years ago. He married a Miss Elizabeth Ross, a member of a well-known Gundagai district family and there were six children of the marriage, Mrs. Thomas French (Brungle), Misses Sarah and Elsie (Sydney), Mrs. S. S. Clark (South Australia), Mrs R. M. Herring (Victoria), and Archibald (Gundagai). Mr. John McKinnon (Brungle), Mrs. W. Robinson (Tumut) & Mrs P. R. Kelly (Sydney), brothers and sisters, are left to mourn his loss. Two brothers, Messrs. Hughie McKinnon (Wyangle) and Alex McKinnon, predeceased him some time ago. Deceased, who was a noted horseman and judge of stock, was for many years a boundary rider on the Broughton Estate. Later on in life he took up sheep and cattle dealing successfully, and also went in for mixed farming. His health had not been the best for some time, and during the last six months or so his condition gradually gave out. He was buried in the Presbyterian portion of the North Gundagai cemetery on Wednesday, Rev. J. A. Malcomson officiating at the graveside. |
