The Tumut and Adelong Times 14 Jun 1927
WEDDING OLDFIELD— KIRK A lovely gown of white electric pleated georgette, with silver lace overflounce, was worn by Miss Esme Kirk at her wedding at St. Luke's Church, Shepardstown, to Mr. Athol Oldfield, of Cootamundra. A handembroidered silk tulle veil enveloped the gown, and was held in place by a wreath of orange blossoms and pearls. The bride was attended by her niece, Miss Ethel Kitto, and sister, Miss Julia Kirk, as bridesmaids, their frocks being of powder-blue crepe-de-chene, with gold lace trimmings, and they also wore powderblue boudoir caps, and carried bouquets of pink chrysanthemums and daphne. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Jack Lane as best man. and Mr. Milton Allatt was groomsman. The bride also carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and daphne with asparagus fern, and was given away by her father, Mr. Samuel Kirk. Rev. G. F. Pyke (St. Paul's, Adelong) officiated. Miss Ena Burke presided at the organ. The reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, her mother wearing a frock of black silk and hat to match, and holding a posy of pink roses and fern. At the wedding breakfast, the tables were beautifully decorated by a sister of the bride, Miss Gertie Kirk, wearing a frock of cinnamon marocain. The bride and bridegroom later left by car on their honeymoon, the bride wearing a blue georgette frock, with hat to match, and fur coat. Numerous presents were received, including cheques. |
