FUNERAL
MR. W. H. POST
The funeral of Mr. William Henry Post, who died at the age of 80 years, on Thursday at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law (Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Post), Lower Tarcutta, took place yesterday afternoon. The body was brought from lower Tarcutta in the morning to Messrs. M'lntosh Bros. premises, 207 Baylis Street, Wagga, whence the funeral moved at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The cortege included relatives and friends from Lower Tarcutta and Tarcutta, Miranda (near Sydney), Pullitop, Lake Albert, Urana road, Tumblong, Erigolia (near Rankin's Springs), Sydney, and Wagga, which showed the great respect and esteem in which the deceased was held. The interment took place, in the family ground in the Church of England portion of the Wagga cemetery. The carriers were Messrs. T. W. Taylor, of Pullitop (nephew), Gordon Forbes, of Turvey Park, S. V. Best and E. F. Best, of Wagga, Sergeant Climpson, of Upper Tarcutta, and W. Waldron, of Lower Tarcutta. The pall bearers were Messrs. Frank Post, and Robert Post of Pullitop (cousins), Stanley Marmaduke Harold Post, of Erigolia (son), Charles Arthur Post of Lower Tarcutta (son-in-law), Louis Gormly, Wagga (nephew), Thomas Ingram, Tarcutta, J. A. Wilson and James Baker, of Wagga. The Rev. E. Fletcher, rector of Tarcutta, conducted a short service before leaving the homestead and officiated at the graveside. The chief mourners present at the house and at the grave side were the relatives mentioned and Mrs. Walter Gormly, of Miranda (daughter), Mr. Bruce Gormly, of Miranda (grand-son), Mrs. Edward Last, of Tuinblong (niece), Mr. Richard Post (nephew), Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Fuller, of Sydney, Mr. Esington Beaver, Mrs. Luke Jones, Miss Lorraine Jones, Tarcutta, Mrs. T. Mooney, Miss M. Mooney, Mrs. E. J. Ryder, Mr. A. Moore, Mr. Fred Morton, Mr. Fred Lennard, Mrs. J. Monks, Mrs. R. Sheehan, Mrs. C. Power and many other friends. Floral tributes were placed on the coffin. The funeral arrangement were conducted by Messrs. M'Intosh Bros., of Wagga. It is interesting to recall that the late Mr. Post's parents (Mr. and Mrs. John Post) in the year 1838, camped in the bed of the Murrumbidgee River near Gundagai. The river was then a chain of small waterholes, and they travelled on and took up Cookardinia Station on account of the good water supply there. The station extended to the Billabong, in preference to the Murrumbidgee River. Their eldest son, Mr. John Joseph Post, was the first white child born in the Albury district.
