Son of Angus Reid and Mary Elizabeth (Weeks) Reid.
Married Lillian Maud Gilbert in 1920 in Montrose, Victoria. Father of Helen Winifred Reid. FUNERALS MR. W. REID The late William Reid of Yerong Creek, who died in Melbourne on Wednesday, was born at Gowngardie, near Violet Town, in October, 1882. At the age of two years, with his parents the late Mr. and Mrs. Angus Reid, he came to the Wagga district and was educated at Tooyal School. He enlisted in 1914 and served in France, was wounded at Bullecourt, and returned to Yerong Creek in August, 1919. He married Miss Lillian Maud Gilbert in 1921 at Montrose (Vic.) and settled at Albert, where he lived until 1926, when he moved to Parkes. Later in 1934 he returned to "Mittagong," Yerong Creek, where he resided until his death. The funeral took place at Yerong Creek yesterday morning. The cortege moved from the Presbyterian Church after a service conducted by the Rev. Robert Gray, of Lockhart. Mrs. Hugh Fraser officiated at the organ during the singing of "Abide With Me." The casket was carried by Messrs. D. Reid (brother), P. W. Murphy, A. N. Gawland [sic], Mr. Gawland [sic] and J. N. Lowrie (nephews) and Alf Taylor, while the floral tray was in the care of Messrs. J. Currie (brother-in-law), J. M. Dobson, W. Currie, and T. E. Molkentin. Interment took place in the Yerong Creek Cemetery, where Mr. Gray again officiated. Relatives present, in addition to the above mentioned were: Miss Helen Reid (daughter), Mrs. J. N. Lowrie (niece), His wife Mrs. L. M. Reid, and sister Mrs. J. Currie, were unable to be present. Friends were present from Yerong Creek, Wagga, French Park, Milbrulong. Tootool, Mittagong, and Benaila. Among the floral tributes were wreaths from Yerong Creek Returned Soldiers'; All at Pine Lodge; The Presbyterian Church, Yerong Creek, and J. W. Gray and Co.
