OBITUARY.
MRS. C. S. MILLETT.
There passed peacefully away on Monday, August 24th, in her 81st year, Mrs. C. S. Millett, relict of R. H. Millett, who was one of three well-known brothers in the palmy days of the Towers. John and William Millett were prominent in the mining activities of the time, but Richard Millett was more closely associated with church and local government affairs, being a circuit steward of the Central Methodist Church, a councillor and chairman of the Queenton Shire, councillor of Thornburgh College, and also a city alderman until he left the field for Montville in 1920, dying there on August 4th, 1921. Mrs. C. S. Millett was born at St. Ives, Cornwall, and was married in the Old Land, had six children, all born in Cornwall, one dying in infancy, and came to Queensland in 1896, following her husband who had come out five years earlier. She resided continuously on the Towers for 25 years, but during the last ten years divided her time between Montville, Brisbane and the Towers, which she always regarded as her home town. Three months ago, in her 81st year, she commenced a round of visits to her sons, visiting Montville, Rockhampton and Cairns then coming to the Towers, where she intended taking up residence with her son. Six days after arrival she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip, necessitating removal to the District Hospital, where devoted attention failed against the handicap of her years, and she passed
quietly out in her sleep. The funeral was held on Tuesday morning, 26th August, from the Central Methodist Church, where the Rev. T. Bainbridge, B.A., conducted the service, and Mr. D. L. Miller played the "Dead March" in "Saul," while the service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. R. E. Bacon, Principal of Thornburgh College, a valued personal friend of the departed and her husband. She leaves
a family, of five sons and seventeen grandchildren. She was buried at the side of her grandson, Garth, who died two days before her. There have been three deaths in the family since they came to Queensland 35 years ago, and all in August.
