Married Thomas Henry in 1839 at Sydney with 5 children born of this union. The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954) Mon 21 Jan 1850 DIED. At her residence, Bathurst, 17th instant, after an illness of twenty-four hours, Catherine,wife of Mr. Thomas Hill, Miller, and sister-in-law to Mr. John Hill, Jun., 107, King-street, Sydney, leaving a husband and five young children to deplore their loss. The Goulburn Herald and County of Argyle Advertiser (NSW : 1848 - 1859) Sat 26 Jan 1850 An inquest was held at Mr. M'Cabe's, Cricketer's Arms, on Thursday sen'night, on the remains of Mrs.Catherine Hill, wife of Mr. Thomas Hill, a miller in Mr. Syer's employment. Deceased had complained of being rather unwell a few days previous to her death, and had applied to Dr. Machattie for medical relief, who administered a mild aperient, as her case appeared a simple one. On Wednesday, she complained of an excruciating pain in her hip, and giddiness in her head. The former continued until about ten o'clock on Wednesday evening, when it left her. She continued in pretty much the same state until about five o'clock on Thursday morning when she called for a cup of tea, and swallowing about half of it, fell dead on the pillow. Her sudden and unexpected death created a sensation, and in consequence Dr. Machattie undertook a post mortem examination, when it was discovered that an eruption of one of the blood vessels of the brain had taken place. Verdict, died from apoplexey. |
