MARRIED.
POTTER–CAMPBELL.—On Thursday, January 9th, 1871, by the Rev. W. Baker, at the residence of William Jardine, Esq., Curry Flat, near Nimitybelle, Mr. CHARLES POTTER, of Cooma, to Miss CATHERINE CAMPBELL, of Curry Flat.

THE LATE MRS CATHERINE POTTER.
A correspondent writes':— Mrs, Potter, whose death occurred in Adaminaby on 6th September, at the age of 76 years, was a native of Scotland, being born at Dalry, Ayrshire, on 19th December, 1846. Her maiden name was Catherine Campbell, and at the age of 15 she and her; sister Mary, who was two years her senior, emigrated to Australia. They travelled overland to Liverpool, where they began their long voyage on the ship Lobilli, which was six months reaching Sydney.
These two maidens were well cared for by the captain, and often received some of the captain's fare, that being very different to the plain daily menu of the majority of the passengers. In Sydney they were met by their uncle, Mr. William Jardine, who then lived at Bullenbalong, but who afterwards bought Curry Flat. Here the two girls remained until Mary was married to Mr. Adam Jardine, and in January 1871, Catherine married Mr. Charles Potter, then a builder in Cooma, Her married life began
in Cooma, but Mr. Potter gave up his trade and began life on the land, first at Pine Flat, afterwards at Bobeyan, and on selling that property he selected Jones' Plain property on which he remained till his death in 19 13. Mrs. Porter felt this loss sincerely, also that of her son Albert, from pneumonic influenza, over four years ago.
Dr.' Ludowici purchased this home and property, so in July, 1922, Mrs. Potter and son Charles Edwin came to Adaminaby where they resided till Mrs. Potter's death.
Dr. Row attended her in her last illness, and was ably supported by her daughter-in-law Mrs. S. A. Potter, and Mrs. Cook. The cause of death was senile decay. The children living are Mr. William Potter (Epping), Mr. C. E. Potter (Adaminaby), and Mrs. R. M. Paterson (Coolac) , who was present to comfort her mother's last hours.
Mr. Charles Allen had charge of the funeral arrangements, and Rev. Mr. Mortimore officiated at the grave which was made between that of her husband and son. Her life was one deserving of wide emulation as she was a model wife and mother, a perfect housekeeper, thoroughly, conscientious in the discharge of her duty, of lovable and amiable disposition, and one who could not tolerate sham and deceit. Few people are so well prepared for the life beyond the grave as was the late, widely loved and highly respected Mrs. Catherine Potter.
