MR. C. INGRAM
The death occurred at a late hour on Monday night of Mr. Charles Ingram, of Tarcutta, the cause of his death being pneumonia. Mr. Ingram was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ingram, of Tarcutta, where he was born and spent most of his life. He was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends. Just previous to the outbreak of the Great War he was for a time with the survey party on the Port Augusta line. He enlisted in the 7th Light Horse Brigade and left for Egypt with his Regiment in December, 1914, and returned after the Armistice having attained the rank of sergeant. He received the Anzac badge upon his return to Australia. Mr. Ingram was married shortly afterwards to Miss Gertrude Power, daughter of the late Mr. Morgan Power and Mrs. Power, of Wagga. He is survived by his widow and four children, Helen, Bernard Charles, Paul, and Peter, the youngest of whom is aged eight years; and also by his three sisters, Mary, Juliet, and Rebecca, who reside at Manly, and five brothers; Messrs. Thomas Ingram, of 'Glenburn,' Tarcutta road; Andrew, of Batlow; and John, William, and James Ingram, of Tarcutta. The funeral took place on Christmas Day, the cortege moving from Mr. J. C. M' Donald's funeral parlor, Wagga, for the Catholic portion of the Tarcutta cemetery. The procession was joined all along the road from Wagga to Tarcutta by large numbers of motor cars. The length of the cortege showed the high respect and esteem in which Mr. Ingram was held throughout Tarcutta and district. Near the cemetery the funeral was met by many returned soldiers of Tarcutta, who formed a guard of honor and marched beside the hearse to the cemetery. The Rev. Father Hayden, of Wagga, officiated at the graveside. The coffin, which was draped with the Union Jack, was carried to the grave by six returned soldiers, Messrs. N. Boomer, Arthur Belling, C. E. Burcher, Arthur Wealand, J. R. Simpson, and R. Beckhouse. Six returned soldiers, Messrs. Alf Brain, E. Hardwick, L. Stinson, J. Brown, H. White, and R. M' Masters, marched beside the carriers as the coffin was borne to the grave. The floral tray, which was laden with many beautiful floral tributes, was carried by Messrs. R. Richardson, J. Feutrill, O. Jones, and R. Burt. The chief mourners at the graveside in addition to those mentioned included the bereaved widow (Mrs. C. Ingram), Barney and Paul Ingram (sons),. Miss J. Ingram (sister), Messrs. Thomas, Andrew, John, William, and James Ingram (brothers), Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hannell, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Angel, Mr. and Mrs. J. Power, Mr. and! Mrs. Smiles (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law), and many friends from Lower Tarcutta, Wagga, Coreinbob, Borambola, Oberne Creek, Keajura, Adelong, Batlow, and Tarcutta and district. Among the many floral tributes were wreaths from the trustees of the Tarcutta racecourse, the committee of the Tarcutta Soldiers' Memorial Hall, the Borambola Cricket Club, the Tarcutta Returned Soldiers, the Tarcutta Bush Nursing Association, the Tarcutta railway employees, and the Tarcutta Country Women's Association. The funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr. J. C. M'Donald, of Wagga.
