| - Notes: Typical was Charles Tompson (1784-1871), who was convicted at Warwick in March 1802, arrived in Sydney in May 1804, and was for some years in the office of John Palmer, the Commissary. Later he kept a butcher's shop in Hunter Street, Sydney, held property in the Bexley area, and about 1819 bought the 700 acre farm, Clydesdale, near Windsor. This ebullient man was grazing stock in the Goulburn-Yass area by the late 1820s, and by December 1832 was occupying one of the several cattle and sheep stations which then extended 'for some distance down the Murrumbidgee probably as much as fifty miles'. This station was Eunonyhareenyha (Bennett's Kubandere), which had its western boundary running through the centre of the present North Wagga Wagga. |
