| - Notes: Though Cuthbert died at North Shields aged 38 in 1796, his widow Sarah carried on the business for another 22 years.
I have twice tried to find Rowantree Stob, Cuthbert’s birthplace and probable home to the Roddams for 80 tears or more but have not been successful each time. It was a fortified house built in the 16th C against the marauding border reivers. |
