Dudley was a convict who arrived at Port Jackson aboard the "Minerva" on 11th January 1800. He had been tried & convicted at Waterford, Tipperary, Ireland & sentenced to life transportation. Dudley Hartigan was given a conditional pardon on 29/2/1812. 1822. Constable Hartigan while on duty at Liverpool store was accused of theft. He was exonerated. 1825. Dudley Hartigan was a landholder at Evan NSW. 1828. Census. Dudley Hartigan was a landholder at Evan NSW. According to the 1828 Census Papers he had remarried because his wife was given as Margaret. No age or date of birth were given for Margaret. It was stated that she was born in the colony. Three ( 3 ) children were listed as family of Dudley Hartigan:- Margaret 18 born in the colony, Catherine 7 born in the colony and Mary Ann 14 born in the colony. Other information in the 1828 Census Papers lists The Hartigan surname has been spelt in several different ways:- Heartigan, Uartican, Martican, Mortigin, Hartican, Artican and of course Hartigan. |
