- Notes: Edward Cantor was a Jew and went to Sydney after his father-in-law William Guise died and was there until about 1855.
Hannah went to gaol for six months in Sydney and came out just weeks before her sister Mary killed her husband.
Cantor then turns up in Ballarat by 1857 and lives there until his death in 1887. I don’t think Hannah came with him. He marries again in Ballarat, and I cannot find a divorce!
By the way, the Guise family were not related to Marie Antoinette – they were from England not France. Evidently the grandchildren of Richard Guise Senior spread that story.
Interesting family.
