OBITUARY MRS. ELIZABETH McKINNON As announced in our last issue, the death occurred at her home in Merrivale-Street, Tumut, at noon on Monday of Mrs. Elizabeth McKinnon, relict of the late Mr. John McKinnon of Brungle and Tumut, at the age of 85 years and nine months. The late Mrs. McKinnon had always been a very active woman and did not look her years. She had been suffering from heart trouble since Christmas and had been laid up for nine days prior to her demise. Born at Tintaldra on the Upper Murray, where her father conducted grazing pursuits, deceased came to Brungle when still in her 'teens as the local school teacher. It was whilst there that she met and married Mr. John McKinnon, who predeceasd her by several years. The late Mrs. McKinnon resided at Bombowlee for some years, where she owned a property which she later sold to the Brown family, but had lived in Tumut for many years. There are three sons and one daughter surviving, viz.: Connor (Sydney), Leslie (Tumut), William (Tumut) and Lillian (Mrs. O'Hara, Singleton). One son, Frank, was killed in the 1914-'18 war and another died in infancy. Brothers and sisters also surviving are Janie and Annie (Sydney), Munt (Mrs. Coghlan, Sydney), Nicholas Curran (Sydney) and another resides in Queensland. One brother, William, and one sister, Polly (Mrs. Mulqueeny) predeceased her. The late Mrs. McKinnon was essentially a home-loving woman and lived for her church and her family. For many years she was treasurer to the Mondongo P. and C. Association, resigning from the position only last year. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, leaving from the Catholic Church for the Tumut New Cemetery, where interment took place. The pallbearers were Messrs. William and Connor McKinnon (sons), McAuliffe, Neil, Arthur and Ted Brown. Mr. H. W. Baker had charge of the mortuary arrangements.
