Personal Notes:
The Tumut and Adelong Times 11 May 1926
OBITUARY MRS. PHILLIP DENNING. The sad news came through from Sydney on Thursday last that Mrs. Ellen Denning, relict of the late Phillip Denning, of Blowering, had passed away at her residence, Bondi, on Thursday last, after a long and useful life of 85 years. The Blowering property (in the possession of Messrs. John and Charles Denning, their sons, for the last 20 years), was purchased by Mr. Phillip Denning 53 years ago, and 18 years afterwards he set out west and acquired Daroobalgie Station, and subsequently Jumble Plains Station on the Bogan, and other holdings, retaining possession of the first mentioned property until his death 12 years ago. In all his transactions he found his good wife a true helpmeet. Some three years ago Mrs. and Miss Mary Denning decided to go to the city to reside, for a change of climate for the aged mother, and they selected the suburb of Bondi. Mrs. Denning's health had given the family much concern for some months, but she survived several attacks before succumbing to the last. The family left to mourn their irreparable loss are five sons (John, James, Phillip, Charles and William) and two daughters (Mrs. T. J. Hayden, of Sydney, and Mrs. W. Long, of Lacmalac). The sons left Tumut on Friday to meet the coffined remains, which were taken to Forbes for interment alongside those of her husband.
