Mr. Clough, who was one of the best known business men in Wagga, had been in indifferent health for many years. He was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, and came to Australia with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Clough, at a very early age. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Clough first settled at Ganmain, and later went to Wagga. Mr. Fred Clough's mother died about 1900, and his father about 10 years ago. Mr. Fred Clough lived in Wagga all his life, and was highly respected and esteemed by a large circle of friends. He was married in 1897 to Miss Alice Crummy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Crummy, of Wagga, Mr. Crummy having been a warder at the Wagga gaol. Two sons survive, Messrs. A. C.
