- Notes: Son of Joseph and Sarah Aged 10 years drowned along with Alfred Dean, aged 13 years. A group of young lads had gone to watch a local cricket match on Anniversary Day at the racecourse when they decided to go bathe in a pond formed by the flooded waters of the river. However the pond whilst shallow on the beach quickly dropped away to a depth of 6 foot deep leaving the boys out of their depth. Although many people arrived on scene quickly the boys could not be revived.
