Benedict Henry de la Poer, and Lieutenant Commander Stephen Marcus de la Poer DSC

Sir George was a Veteran of the First and Second World Wars. He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918, and the Order of the Nile (3rd Class). He gained the rank of Temporary Brigadier and Brigade Commander in 1935. In 1938 he was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.), and gained the rank of Major-General in the service of the Indian Army. He was Deputy Adjutant and Quartermaster-General of the Northern Command, India between 1938 and 1940. He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1942, where he was mentioned in despatches. He was the District Commander of the Northern Command, India in 1940. He was invested as a Knight Bachelor in 1949.
