Personal Notes:
from monaropioneers.com
William Walker and his son George were convicts and were both transported to the colony aboard the ship "Earl St. Vincent" and arrived at Port Jackson on 16 Dec 1818. The ship had sailed from Cork in Ireland on 7 Aug 1818, a voyage of 131 days.
Aboard the same ship was Francis Quilty who later married Sarah Foley. Sarah later became George's de facto.
George and his father, William, were both tried and convicted at the Kilkenny City Court and both sentenced to 7 years transportation.
In 1826, at Bathurst NSW, George was convicted of stealing 20 sheep in an armed robbery and was sentenced to death. The death sentence was obviously commuted to 14 years imprisonment. In 1838, after serving 12 years and 6 months, George was released and the balance of his sentence remitted for "especial good conduct"
