MRS. HANNAH MILES
The death occurred on Saturday, morning last in a private hospital in Wagga of Mrs. Hannah Miles, of Morundah-street, Wagga, at the age of 84 years, after an illness of three weeks. She was the widow of the late John Miles, of Book Book, and formerly of Ladysmiith, who predeceased her by 42 years. She was born at Moss Vale, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Linton Blake.

Her marriage was solemnised at Wagga, and she leaves a family of three sons and five daughters. Messrs. William and John Linton (Wagga), James Owen (Sydney), Nurse Hastie, of Forsyth-street, Wagga, Mrs. Herbert Fearne (Wagga), Mrs. James Sheedy (Sydney), Mrs. William Fearne of Best-street, Wagga, and Mrs. Fred Davies, of Fox-street, Wagga. There are also 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Two sons and two daughters predeceased her. Mrs. Miles was one of the pioneering women to the Gregadoo and Ladysmith district. She made many friends in the early days by her many kind and thoughtful actions. She was a loving mother and a good neighbor and many a weary traveller received kindness at her hands. For the last 30 years she resided in Morundah-street Wagga.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, the cortege leaving St. Michael's Cathedral, Wagga at 2.30 o'clock. Before leaving the Rev Father Lacey said prayers for the repose of her soul. The Cathedral was filled with relatives and friends. The cortege was very large and representatlve and included relatives and friends from Book, Book, Gregadoo, Coreinbob, North Wagga and prominent residents of Wagga, testifying to the great respect and esteem in which Mrs. Miles was held. Among those present were many old friends who had known her for more than 50 years.

Interment took place in the family ground in the old Catholic portion of the Wagga cemetery, alongside the graves of her husband and son Charles. The carriers at the Cathedral and at the cemetery were Messrs Frederick Raymond Davys, Leslie Cordon Davys, Victor Stanley Davys, Francis Clive Fearne, Harold James Fearne and Linton Claude Hastie (grandsons), and the pall bearers were Messrs. William Miles (son), William Fearne (son-in-law), Edward Oakman and Harry Smiles (grandsons), Walter Keane, Frank Brown, David Gardiner and Reg Brown. The Rev. Father Lacey officiated at the graveside. There were many beautiful floral tributes and the floral tray was carried by Messrs. John Linton Miles (son), Charles Miles (grandson), John Doolan and Robert Smith. The chief mourners and friends present were those mentioned above, and Mrs. William James Fearne, Nurse Hastie, Mrs. Herbert Fearne, and Mrs. Fred Davys (daughters). Mrs. J. J. Sheedy (daughter), of Sydney and Mr. Owen Miles (son), of Sydney, were unable to attend. The funeral arrangements were conducted by Messrs. M'Intosh Bros., of Wagga.
