Personal Notes:
Very little is known about Grace Edith, daughter of Frank and Mary Elworthy. Born 1884 she became a schoolteacher and wed fellow teacher Pembroke MASSON. A niece remembers Grace as 'very much like Katherine Hepburn' and Pembroke as 'a little round gentleman - possibly English'. They lived at Gladesville, taught in Sydney then retired to Ulladulla on the south coast but tragedy struck in 1952-53.

Their second daughter Morna who lived in Sydney stayed with her parents while recuperating from an operation. Friends took them out for a drive but going down Braidwood Mountain the car went out of control and crashed. Morna was killed instantly, Pembroke was thrown clear but Grace died next day from her injuries. Towards the end of the 50s Pembroke died at their home in Vincent Street, Ulladulla.
