MR. H. SMYLES
The death occurred suddenly at his home on Friday of Mr. Henry Smyles, of Leeton, at the age of 73 years. Mr. Smyles, who was born at Holbrook, was an old and highly respected resident of the district, having resided also at Mangoplah, The Rock and Wagga. He was at one time the licensee of the Carrington Hotel, and later carried on grazing and farming pursuits. Mr. Smyles married Miss Mary Snodgrass, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Snodgrass, of 'Forest Vale,' Mangoplah, and his wife
predeceased him 10 years ago. He leaves a family of three sons, Messrs. Robert, Don and William Smyles, and four daughters, Mary (Mrs. Proud, of New Zealand), Chrissy, Ada, and Lennie (Mrs. Hubert Caldwell, of Alice Springs). He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Slocum, of Wagga, Mrs. Alex Ross, of Sydney, and Mrs. Roe, of Lane Cove, and one brother, Mrs. Thomas Smyles, of Melbourne. The funeral moved to the Leeton cemetery on Friday, burial taking place beside his wife's grave.
