OBITUARY.
We recorded briefly in our last issue, the death of Jane Kemp, relict of the late Henry Kemp, who predeceased her by about 20 years. The deceased lady was born in Ireland, County Fermanah, in the year 1832. She came to Tumut on reaching Australia, after a six months' voyage as domestic servant to the late John Whitby, of Blowering Station, in the year 1848. In the year 1850 she was married to Henry Gibson Kemp, at Tumut Plains, by the Rev. Bridgestock, a Church of England Minister then on a visit to Tumut, Mr. Wm. Bridle, senr., acting as best man. The old lady has resided in the Tumut district for the past 69 years. The issue of her marriage was a family of 12 children, 4 sons and 8 daughters. The sons living, are William Kemp (Bega), Robert and Henry Kemp (Tumut). Daughters living are, Eliza Clout (Sydney), Esther Blomley (Tumut), Mildred Upton (Sydney), and Emily Hoad (Tumut). Deceased leaves 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren as the offspring resulting from the union 67 years ago. For the past few years she had found a comfortable home with her sons and daughters, latterly living at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. R. Blomley, where her death occurred. She will be remembered by the older residents of Tumut, as being of a fnendly, charitable disposition. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the old cemetery, Rev. Burgess performing the burial rites, and Messrs. Masters Bros. acting as undertakers.
