John Bray, soldier with the First Fleet and later settler at Concord enters the story.
Ten children were born to John his eldest son, and amazingly, a number of current Elworthys can trace their ancestry directly from three of them. St Peter's Anglican Church, Campbelltown John Bray & his second wife Elizabeth, along with John’s younger daughter Alice Sarah are buried together in St Peter’s Cemetery, Campbelltown. Written on their tombstone is: ’Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age like as a shock of corn cometh in his season.’ "John Bray of Denfield, Campbelltown 27.8.1883 Aged 85 years." "Elizabeth Bray wife of John Bray Esq. 24.12.1866 aged 67 years, 3 months and 21 days. "Alice Sarah Bray youngest daughter of John and Charlotte Bray 14.9.1846 aged 10 months and 8 days". |
