MR. JAMES KEOWN.
The above very old pioneer breathed his last, at his residence, in Tumut, on Tuesday night last, after enduring an illness which has lasted for a long time past. He had been in the hospital for some weeks, and on Saturday last, it being his 84th birthday,he requested the pleasure of being in his own home on that the last anniversary of his birth he expected to see. As he was anxious for the pleasure his wish was granted but it soon became evident that the old man's time had come, and he expired as stated above. He leaves a widow, one son and 7 daughters (4 by first wife and 3 by second) to mourn his loss, and we extend our sympathies to them over their bereavement. The funeral took place on Tuesday, and Rev. Father Sharkey attended to the obsequies. Mr. W. Himsworth was the undertaker for each interment, and carried out the duties, as he always has done, in a most perfect manner.
