| - Notes: The death of Mr. James Bannon, at Temora on Tuesday last, revived memories of the train disaster at Salt Clay Creek (near Cootamundra), when the flood washed away the bridge, and the trainload of passengers was hurled into the raging waters. Mr Bannon was an eye witness of the disaster, having tried in vain to signal the danger to the driver of the engine. He rendered very valuable assistance, and received recognition from the department. He was a noted shearer in the early days, and was the ''ringer'' of many sheds. Seventy-nine years of age, he is survived by Mrs. Bannon and five sons. |
