LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
SOFT WICKET IN YORKSHIRE
A Batting Weakness
Sir,-I trust that the very poor showing of the Australian Eleven on a soft wicket against Yorkshire will lead to a discontinuance of the "custom of covering wickets in Australia. It is not true cricket and is unfair to the bowlers.

It would be much more interesting for the public to see batsmen fighting for runs on a sticky wicket from time to time than, as now, watching them plod along by the hour on the inevitable shirt-front pitches. This is causing the game to deteriorate in public interest.
Sydney. JOHN P. DUGUID.
