- Notes: Wedding. AT St. John's, Canberra, on March 11th, the Rev. A. M. Hopcraft officiating, Miss Jessie, third eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mayo, of Majura, was married to Mr. C. H. Lane, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lane. The bride's dress was of white French muslin, trimmed with valenciennes lace and insertion, ribbon, and finished with orange blossoms. She also wore the orthodox veil, and carried a wreath of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was the gift of the bridegroom, as was also a gold bangle. The bride's sister, Miss Laura Mayo, attended as bridesmaid, and wore a very pretty costume of turquoise blue ponjee muslin, trimmed with cream lace and insertion, and wore a fancy crinoline straw edgewood blue hat, with big bows and tulle to match. She carried a lovely bouquet and wore a gold brooch, both gifts of the bridegroom. Mr. H. D. Bingley, bridegroom's cousin, acted as best man. After the ceremony, the party drove to the residence of the bride's parents, " Majura House," where the wedding breakfast was served, and the usual toasts proposed and honored. Mr. and Mrs. Lane left the same evening for Sydney. The bride's going-away dress was of cream coating serge, made in the style of Russian bolero, trimmed with pale blue silk and cream fancy guimp ; and also wore a crinoline hat in champagne shade, trimmed with big bows of pale blue glace silk.
