Personal Notes:
Obit from SMH 13 Sep 1930 "The death has occurred in England of Mr William Fane de Sails, a well-remembered figure in Australian politics of many years ago Mr de Salis was 85 years of age. For five years he represented Queanbeyan as Liberal member during the days of Sir Henry Parkes. Before that his father Mr Leopold Fane de Salis, held the seat, and it was upon the letter's transfer to the Upper House that his son stood for election. At the end of the term Mr de Salis stood down in favour of his brother, Mr George Fane de Salis, now of Michelago. For many years he lived at Strathmore, Queensland. He left for Eng- land 20 years ago. Mr Henry Fane de Salis, of Reculveis, Goulburn, is a brother."
