Son of George and Jane Married 3 times ; Married Miriam Grigswell ( also spelt Gresswell) in 1866 at Wagga Wagga with 3 children born of this union. Miriam died in 1873 at Oberne Station, Tarcutta and likely buried there. Married Isabella McGillivray in 1879 in Sydney with eight children born of this union. Married Jane Sutton in 1901 at Tumut with one son Grantley born in 1902 of this union. Adelong and Tumut Express and Tumbarumba Post (NSW : 1900 - 1925) Tue 13 Jan 1903 Death of Mr. Joseph Lambert FATAL FALL FROM A HORSE. The sad news of the untimely death of Mr. Joseph Lambert, the popular squire of East Blowering, was received in town yesterday with feelings of deep regret. From particulars to hand it appears that Mr. Lambert was riding over some steep country near his home early on Sunday morning when the horse he was mounted on fell, precipitating him into a sand pit. He was found in an unconscious condition, and was removed to his residence. Dr. Griffith was sent for and went out to attend the patient who, however, never regained consciousness, and died at 10 o'clock on Sunday night. The deceased was about 58 years of age. He was reared from a small boy at Billapalap station, and in after life acquired the East Blowering property. His life was marked by many viscissitudes. Withal he was a man greatly respected, and his large-heartedness and generosity can be testified to by quite a number of residents of the district. His aged mother is still alive, living at Oberne with the deceased's daughter (Mrs. C. D.Bardwell). Mr. Lambert was thrice married, and leaves a wife and a large family to mourn his demise. Further reference to the sad occurrence will be made in our next issue. An inquest was opened at Tumut yesterday. |
