Obituary
MRS. MARY ANN BEMBRICK
The death of the late Mrs. Mary Ann Bembrick, of Clark-street. Harden, on Sunday last, at the advanced age of 93 years, removes from our midst another old and highly-respected citizen.
Death took place at the residence of her son, Mr. William Bembrick, with whom the deceased resided during the past eight years. She retained her faculties right up to the last. She had been ill only for a very
short time previous to her death.
The deceased, prior to her marriage, was Miss Mary Ann Martin, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin of Rye Park. She was born at Botany. She was the second wife of the late Mr. Alfred Bem-
brick. They were married in the year 1875. Her husband has pre-deceased her by 12 years.
Some time after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bembrick left Rye Park, and moved to Grenfell. and secured a large area of land on Brundah creek. The estate was known as "Werriga." Subsequently the estate was disposed of to Mr. Alfred Bembrick's third son, Alfred. Mr. and Mrs. Bembrick. senr. came on to Harden; where Mr. Bembrick carried on business as storekeeper for a number of years, subsequently retiring from business. Mr. Bembrick died on the 8th January, 1922, at the advanced age of 84 years; leaving a widow and grown-up family of 10 sons and 5 daughters,
The Late Mrs. Mary Ann Bembrick leaves one son, Mr. W. Bembrick, and four daughters, namely. Mrs A. Christie (Waverton) ; Mrs J. Nicholas (Strathfield) ; Mrs G. Gillett (Richmond) ; and Mrs Thos. Black
(Forbes).
Deceased is also survived by nine step-children, namely, Mr. Thomas Bembrick; (Beecroft), Mr. Alfred Bembrick (Grenfell), Messrs Samuel and Samson (Canterbury) ; Mr Mark (Beecroft) : Mr John Bembrick
(Vaucluse) ; Rev. Michael Bembrick (Earlwood) ; Rev. Silas Bembrick (Burwood) and Mrs G. A. Killick (Manly) : One son: Mr James Bembrick (late of Roseville) died in 1927.
When the late Mrs. Bembrick had reached her 90th birthday, on September 17th, 1930, the unique event was duly celebrated and was attended by a large gathering of sons, daughters,
grand-children, and great grand children.
All her life she has been an ardent member of the Methodist Church, and her home was always open to Ministers and Preachers. Her cheery disposition had been a joy to her loved ones and an inspiration to allwho knew her.
On Monday, after a service at the Methodist Church, the funeral proceeded to the Methodist portion of the Murrumburrah Cemetery, and was largely attended. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. Waters. The Rev. G. Nelson Bensley (Presbyterian) assisted with the services at the graveside.
A number of beautiful wreaths were sent by kind friends and sympathisers.
The funeral was conducted by Mr. J R. Sewell (represented bv Mr. Stan Perryman).
We offer our sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
