Stephen White and Ann were convicts, freed by servitude. In 1840 Stephen White held a "licence to Depasture Crown land beyond the limits of Location" at Merrybundinah Creek, near Bethungra, about 20,000 acres growing much larger in size before being sold in 1922. Son Stephen made a significant contribution to the establishment of St Stephen's Church, Mitta Mitta in 1898 where many family members have since been buried.
