READ-De SALIS

A trained gown of ivory ring velvet, with long puffed sleeves and finished at the neck with two woolly pom- poms, was worn by Miss Madalene Fane De Salis, eldest daughter of Sgt. and Mrs. Fane De Salis, of Parkes Street, Helensburgh, at her marriage with Mr. Charles Eric Read, son of the late Mr. Hugh Read and Mrs. Read, of " Oakhill," Sutton, which took place "at St. John the Baptist's Church, Canberra, on Wednesday, July 16. The Rev. Canon C. S. Robertson officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an embroidered tulle veil, which fell from a halo of orange, blossoms and pearls, and carried bouquet of pink carnations, golden roses and autumn leaves to complete the bridal array.

Frocks of lily-of-the-valley green, and shrimp ring velvet, with halo hats to match, were worn by the brides- maids, Misses Una Fane De Salis and Lily Read. They carried bouquets of pink sweet peas, violets and mignon-ette, Mr.. E, Mackintosh, was best man and Mr. Hugh Read was groomsman.

The reception was held at the Hotel Wellington, where Mrs. F. De Salis and Mrs. H. Read received the guests. The honeymoon was spent on a tour of the North and South -Coasts, N.S.W., the bride travelling in a grey costume with red hat and blouse and touches of redtrimming.
