Personal Notes:
Matilda Wrixon, named for her mother's family and born in 1854 at Tumut was the child who had an accident with gunpowder. On 06 Jun 1901 she married Thomas Ascott BASSETT, a 57 year old Devonshire widower, according to Church of England rites at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Alice and William GLOVER of Whitton. Her brother John and sister Alice were witneses. Matilda's occupation was 'housekeeper' whilst Thomas was a farmer. Anewspaper report of his death on 04 Dec 1916 said he was the father of nine children but most likely these were by his first wife Caroline.
