The Tumut and Adelong Times 17 Jul 1928
OBITUARY. MRS. MARTHA CUPITT The death occurred on Wednesday morning of a very old and highly respected resident of the Adelong district for over three-quarters of a century in the person of Mrs Martha Cupitt, at the age of 90 years, at the residence of her daughter and sonin-law, Mr. and Mrs William Laney, of "Koba", near the overhead bridge on the Uranquinty Road. The deceased was the relict of the late Mr. Joseph Cupitt, senior, of Adelong, who predeceased her in 1923, at the age of 89 years, after having resided at Adelong for over 67 years. The late Mrs. Cupitt had been living for the last six months with her daughter, and she passed away rather suddenly. She was born at Mittagong, and married at Berrima. She leaves one son, Joseph, of Queensland, and six daughters, Mrs Molt, of Melbourne, Mrs William Laney of Wagga, Mrs Rooke, Cowra, Mrs Dowsett, Mittagong, Mrs Beaver, Canberra, and Mrs Manns, Northern Rivers; and 2 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. The deceased was noted for her many kind and neighbourly actions. The funeral took place on Friday. |
