- Notes: Thomas’s daughter Mary Tong 1878 – is my great grandmother. She left Queanbeyan for New Zealand in the early 1900’s we think? as a governess possibly. We understood she married but he died. She went by the name of Mary Long in NZ and had a son in NZ Harry Paul Long who became a very successful and well know horse trainer in NZ (my mum, Robyn Dorothy Long’s dad) and now has many descendants in NZ, of whom I am one (born in NZ but living here now).
