Personal Notes:
Goulburn Evening Penny Post 7 Jul 1907
DEATH OF MRS. WHEATLEY, SEN. Mrs. Mary Wheatley, relict of the late Mr. Henry Charles Wheatley, died at her residence John-street, Goulburn, at twenty minutes past nine o'clock on Sunday night. The deceased lady, who would have been 71 on the 21st of this month, was a native. She first resided at Collector, and from there went to Gunning, of which district she was one of the pioneer residents. For over half a century Mrs. Wheatley lived at Gunning and the news of her death will be learned there with great regret. Her reminiscences of the old times were very interesting. Mrs. Wheatley had been ill at first only slightly for two or three days. She appeared fairly well on Saturday afternoon and there were no dangerous symptoms then, it being expected that she would be up on the following Monday. About 8 o'clock on Saturday night the illness assumed a more serious complexion. The patient, however, rallied; but at 9 o'clock on Sunday morning there was a decided turn for the worse, death resulting in the evening Death was due to the breaking up of the constitution. Mrs. Wheatley's husband died five years ago. She is survived by eight sons and two daughters. The eldest son is Mr. W. H. Wheatley, the well-known stock and station agent, of this city. Two of the sons live at Condobolin, but the others are residents of this district. One of the daughters lives at Gunning. The other Mrs. F. Bacon resides in Kinghorne-street, Goulburn. The remains will be taken to Gunning by the paper train today (Tuesday) for interment.

The Age (Queanbeyan) 2 Jul 1907
A wire received in Queanbeyan yesterday announced the death on Sunday, at Goulburn, of the relict of the late Mr. H. C. Wheatley, of the Jangler Estate, Gunning, which the family had held for upwards of 50 years. The deceased lady was sister to Mrs. Samuel Southwell, of Fairview, Hall; sister-in-law of Mrs. John Gale, Queanbeyan; and mother of Mr. W. H. Wheatley, the well-known auctioneer of Goulburn. She leaves 10 children----eight sons and two daughters. Her remains were interred to-day in the family vault at Gunning.
